Forward Zander Zvegintzov put in a starring performance netting six goals and setting up another two in an eleven-nil friendly win over Rothes.

The fixture was switched this morning to the meadows playing fields after the playing surface at Christie Park had suffered following heavy rain overnight.

Huntly got into an early lead with three goals in a four minute spell.

In the eighth minute, a Luca Michie free kick was blocked inside the visiting goalmouth and the ball ricocheted at close and Zander Zvegintzov (left) prodded in the opener.

Zvegintzov turned provider three minutes later setting up midfielder Owen Morris (left) who fired in low and wide of the keeper.

In the twelfth minute, a mix-up between defence and keeper saw Zander Zvegintzov nick the ball off the visitor’s goalkeeper before tapping into an empty net.

Just after the half-hour mark, a superb delivery from substitute Max Cheung in-between two defenders picked out winger Ewan Skinner (right) to drive home.

Skinner was awarded a penalty two minutes from the break. Owen Morris stepped up only to send his spot kick high and wide of the post.

Half-Time: Huntly 4 Rothes 0

After some good passing moves produced goals in the first half, the route-one approached extended the lead four minutes into the second half. Goalkeeper Cameron Middleton launched a big kick upfield and Dylan McFadyen (left) ran onto thelong pass before chipping the keeper to score.

In the 52nd minute, McFadyen got time and space down the left to cross for Alex Davidson (right) and the midfielder met the delivery with a header inside the post.

A minute later, Rothes twice tried to get to the ball inside the box only for Zander Zvegintzov to pounce and tap in for his hat-trick.

Another good passage of passing play in the 68th minute saw Michie feed Zvegintzov who in turn laid the ball off for one of Huntly Trialist’s to fire high inside the post.

Another trialist got involved setting up Zander Zvegintzov for his fourth in the 73rd minute. Three minutes later, Dylan McFadyen shrugged off his marker before finding Zander Zvegintzov to finish inside the area.

McFadyen made it a hat-trick of assists with a minute remaining driving the ball low into the near post as Zander Zvegintzov showed a good poacher’s instinct to turn in from close range.
