As most of you will be aware the SFA have changed their position with regard to the Scottish Cup. By agreeing to have our squad (players and coaches) tested for Corona Virus via a PCR test each week from now,  they can begin training together and  then play the second round tie away to Dumbarton on Tuesday 23rd March.

It has been a few years since we had any success in the early rounds of the Scottish Cup and the wins against Dalbeattie Star and Cumbernauld Colts have given everyone at the club a lift.

All football clubs are struggling to cope with the financial consequences of the necessary restrictions imposed in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic

Although there are significant costs in agreeing to such a regime and taking the players off furlough, we believe the team deserves to have the opportunity to take on  Dumbarton with the reward of  a home tie against Aberdeen waiting for the winners in the third Round

The first testing will be done this weekend and the squad will begin training on Monday. The game at Dumbarton will be available on live stream (details to be confirmed from Dumbarton in due course) allowing all our supporters the chance to subscribe, enjoy the game and help the club’s finances at the same time.

You can also support the Club by making a financial pledge via donate a ticket (link below this article).

Thanks for your continuing support and we look forward to seeing you all at Christie Park whenever the suppression of the Corona Virus transmission allows this safely.

Take care and stay safe.

Manager Allan Hale added: “By the SFA changing the position in regard to the requirements to participate in the Scottish Cup the club is now faced with another large expenditure on top of what’s already been an extremely challenging period for all clubs at part-time level. Despite this, we feel, that the players are deserving of the opportunity to play Dumbarton based on the success of previous rounds and for their commitment to the club throughout the pandemic.

Although we would have preferred that Huntly FC supporters could have been on the Scottish Cup journey with us in person, we hope that by having access to viewing the game on steam available to our supporters, that this can alleviate somewhat the disappointment of you not being able to be there in person. “
