Huntly suffered a third straight away defeat to Rothes going down three-nil at MacKessack Park.

Rothes made three changes from the side which lost at Nairn in their last fixture with Ross Gunn, Aidan Wilson and Craig Cormack coming in for starts. Huntly had defender Logan Johnstone out through injury as Alexander Jack, Cameron Heslop and Robbie Foster were all added to the starting eleven.

With over a minute gone, Rothes’ Sean McCarthy handled outside the box. The keeper was cautioned by Referee Dan McFarlane and from the resultant free kick, Andrew Hunter curled over.

Rothes took the lead after seven minutes when a long throw from Craig Cormack was flicked on by Greg Morrison for Gary Kerr to head home from close range.

Rothes thought they’d doubled their lead on eighteen minutes only for Assistant Referee Callum McCruden to flag Gary Kerr offside.

Midway through the half, Huntly were looking for an equaliser and Gavin Elphinstone and Andrew Hunter both saw effort blocked in succession as the home defence put bodies on the line.

Gary Kerr added his second three minutes before the interval when he was given time and space to fire a low shot in off the post for his sixth of the season.

Half-Time: Rothes 2 Huntly 0

Huntly Manager Allan Hale made a double tactical change at the break with Cameron Heslop and Joel MacBeath both substituted and replace by Michael Clark and debutant Brodie Allen.

Minutes after the break, Hunter was again denied this time courtesy of a McCarthy save before Robbie Foster curled wide from the rebound,

On the hour mark, Greg Morrison got round the back of the visitors defence and his shot looked goalbound until a last-ditch clearance from Michael Clark turned the ball behind.

Rothes wrapped up the win with four minutes remaining. Greg Morrison again turned provider bursting down the right flank and his cross was met by Alan Pollock who fired in his seventh of the campaign.
