Huntly maintain their unbeaten start to the league season but had to settle for a point as Deveronvale came from behind to earn a 3-3 draw.

With 37 seconds gone, Angus Grant played a through ball to Greg Buchan who chipped wide of the far post.

The woodwork denied the visitors after nine minutes. Greg Buchan won the ball and proceeded to cross into the box. Cameron Heslop saw an effort blocked before Angus Grant’s follow-up came back off the crossbar.

Huntly deservedly took the lead on the quarter-hour mark; the home defence were looking for an offside against Cameron Heslop who was able to get forward and cut the ball back for Angus Grant to finish from close range.

The visitors doubled their lead six minutes later when Alexander Thoirs won the ball and played in Gavin Elphinstone who beat the offside trap before netting his third goal in four games.

Vale got themselves back into the game with a penalty award on the half-hour mark when Euan Storrier was adjudged to have fouled Dane Ballard. Ross Aitken saw his initial effort saved by Storrier but reacted quickly to fire in the rebound.

Huntly had a claim for a penalty themselves four minute slater when Goalscorer Elphinstone got away from Jamie Tinnock and looked to have been pulled down but the officials thought otherwise.

With forty seconds of the half remaining, Huntly increased their lead. A great through ball from Reece McKeown found Angus Grant who evaded two challenges before finishing from slotting home.

Half-Time: Deveronvale 1 Huntly 3

Vale looked to add another in the 59th minute when a long-range attempt from Rory Davidson produced a great stop from Storrier to keep the ball out.

Deveronvale had a bit of luck for their second goal in the 64th minute. A long range shot from Ross Aitken struck the crossbar and came back off Euan Storrier and crept over the line for an own goal.

The hosts levelled with twelve minutes left. Sam Robertson played in a low cross for Dane Ballard to score his fourth of the season.

Huntly had a chance in the final minute to take all three points only for Elphinstone to be denied by Sean McIntosh in the home goal.
