Huntly came from a goal down to defeat Turriff United 3-1 and make it three wins in succession.

The hosts were without Christopher Herd through work commitments as Alexander Jack and Craig Dorrat remained sidelined. Matthew McDonald started in attack for the visitors less than a month after leaving Christie Park.

Huntly threatened early as birthday boy Declan Milne saw a header saved from a Kai Ross corner.

Full back Alexander Thoirs slid in for a tackle inside the home box after five minutes against Luke Kinsella. Thoirs looked to have won the ball only to be penalised for a foul by Referee Mat Northcroft. Robert Ward sent goalkeeper John Farquhar the wrong to open the scoring from the penalty spot.

Two minutes later, Nathan Meres played the ball inside the box to Kai Ross who unselfishly laid off to Declan Milne who shot straight at Jacob Otto in the visiting goal. Huntly had a claim for a penalty themselves in the tenth minute when a Ross Still header appeared to have hit a hand inside the box but the appeals were ignored by the officials.

The hosts levelled the scoring on the quarter-hour mark when a Kai Ross corner from the left was headed in at the front post by Ashley Ballam who has now netted four goals in the last seven games.

The black and gold’s would take the lead ten minutes later. Cameron Bowden was slack with a pass-back and when goalkeeper Jacob Otoo mis-kicked, Kai Ross took advantage to chase down the ball and roll it into the net.

Ross would fire by the upright after the half-hour mark while John Farquhar kept out a Norris header two minutes later.

Half-Time: Huntly 2 Turriff United 1

Just before the hour mark, John Farquhar kept out a Robert Ward free kick at his near post. Good play from Meres midway through the half saw the winger win the ball and set up Milne who saw an attempt blocked before Still curled over from the edge of the area. Ross turned provider for Milne a minute later but Otto stood up to the forward’s shot.

Matthew McDonald would fire by the base of the post in seventy minutes while Glenn Murison headed wide after he got on the end of a deep free kick from Ashley Ballam seven minutes later.

Huntly increased their lead in the 78th minute when Nathan meres and Declan Milne linked up down the left flank and the latter drilled a cross low into the box only for Turriff Captain Cameron Bowden to turn the ball into his own net from close range.

Into stoppage time, Ross Still volleyed over from a Cai Matthew corner while Matthew would be denied himself a minute later following a block at the near post by Otto.
