A Greg Mitchell strike and a late double from Neil Gauld helped Inverurie Loco Works book a quarter-final meeting with Fraserburgh following a 3-1 win over Huntly.

Huntly were missing suspended duo Ross Still and Darren Wood while Reece McKeown (leg break) and Alexander Thoirs (absent) also missed out. Euan Storrier returned in goal as John Farquhar dropped to the bench. Locos were missing the injured Christopher Angus and Connor Rennie.

It was end to end stuff in the first half. Gary McGowan got forward and his low drive forced a good save from Andrew Reid.  A deep free kick out on the left from Neil McLean three minutes was met at the back post by Joseph McCabe who headed wide.

Gary McGowan came close in the 21st minute cutting in from the left channel and the powerful drive was turned away from goal by Andrew Reid. The Huntly winger passed up another chance midway through the half when he ran onto a Nicholas Gray flick-on and his low strike was by the foot of the post.

Greg Mitchell dragged the ball onto his left and his cross was met by Neil Gauld in the home goalmouth whose overhead kick went by the near post. The dangerous Locos forward came close again after the half-hour mark finding the side netting after running onto a McCabe through ball.

Huntly opened the scoring four minutes into the second half when a header out from the visiting defence went as far as nicholasgrayNicholas Gray (left) who powered in a superb shot from 25 yards for his first Huntly goal.

Joseph McCabe was denied by the woodwork when his header was touched onto the bar by the returning Euan Storrier.

Locos levelled in 58 minutes when Mark Souter struck the base of the post before the ball spun back out for Greg Mitchell to level with a low shot.

The visitors got in front with two goals in a four minutes spell. In the 77th minute, a Jordan Leyden corner from the right was turned in by Neil Gauld at the front post. Gauld added his second getting in behind before firing low.
