Huntly’s Harlaw hoodoo continued with the manager-less side still chasing their first away win in a Gordon derby since February 2009 following a 6-3 defeat to Inverurie Loco Works.

Caretaker manager Martin Skinner rang the changes following the opening weekend defeat to Turriff United with Ryan McRitchie, Ross Still and Paul Napier all coming in for starts while there was a debut in goal for the on-loan Euan Storrier.

There were chances at either end in the early stages. Gary McGowan tried his luck from outside the box in the eighth minute forcing Andrew Reid into a save while a Neil Gauld effort on the quarter-hour mark was kept out by debutant Storrier.

A set piece a minute later saw Huntly break the deadlock. A foul on Kai Ross led to a Paul Napier free kick at the touch line met by the head of michaelclarkMichael Clark who rose above the defence to open the scoring.

Locos looked to strike back in the 32nd minute when Gauld turned Ryan McRitchie but Storrier did well to keep out the powerful attempt.

Locos would level things two minutes later when an off the ball incident between Michael Clark and Christopher Angus was seen by the far side assistant referee resulting in a free kick. Joseph McCabe took the direct free kick outside the box to net.

Three minutes from the interval, a mis-kicked pass-back was easily intercepted by Neil Gauld to pick up and slot home into the empty net.

Half-Time: Inverurie Loco Works 2 Huntly 1

Nine minutes into the second half, a cross from substitute Colin Charlesworth was knocked down in front of goal by Angus for an unmarked Neil Gauld to tap in.

Locos were given a chance to extend their tally when Huntly’s McRitchie made it easy for Referee Paul Cummings to point to the spot after a foul on Gauld, Neil Gauld stepped up for the penalty and made no mistake for his hat trick.

Midway through the second half, a cross into the box by Greg Mitchell found Christopher Angus who shot home from close range.

In the 69th minute, another Paul Napier set play; this time from a corner was delivered to Michael Clark for the captain to power home a header.

Locos netted their sixth and final goal of the day when Storrier failed to hold a Stuart Duff shot which dropped over his head and into goal.

Huntly were forced to play the last thirteen minutes with ten men when Kai Ross was shown a red card for kicking out in retaliation at Stuart Duff after the former Aberdeen had elbowed the former Buckie forward. In the aftermath, Huntly Assistant Manager Martin Skinner was sent from the technical area after Assistant Referee Scott Donohoe had claimed Skinner swore at him.

Huntly netted their third of the afternoon with seven minutes remaining when a foul on Ross Still by Duff led to a garymcgowanGary McGowan powering in a free kick from outside the box.
