Wednesday 15 September Huntly 2 Keith 9 Huntly
were on the end of a heavy beating as they went down 9-2 to Keith tonight. The
onslaught started as early as seven minutes when a poor clearance from the home
defence came out as far as Ewan Watson who struck first time with a low
shot from 22 yards.
Two minutes later, Sean McKinstry played in Cammy
Keith who got past Paul Winton to side foot past Grant Pennet. McKinstry
increased the lead on the quarter hour mark netting with a free header from
close range. Huntly struck back as defender Dale Munro curled in a shot
from distance which looked destined for the top corner only for Daniel Napier
to tip over with an acrobatic save. In the 20th minute, Keith rounded Pennet
only for Brian Higgins to clear on the line. The ball would then find its way
out to Alan McRea to power in a low drive from 25 yards. Four minutes
later, a 30 yard dead ball from Greg McHattie struck the crossbar and rebounded
out to Keith who struck with his sides fifth. Moments later, Cammy
Keith took advantage of some miscommunication between Watt and Pennet at the
back before rounding the pair and firing high into the net for his hat-trick. Keith
added another as he ran onto McHattie's slip to send a low shot in off the far
post. Huntly pulled one back five minutes before the interval. A long clearance
from the back saw their front two get in behind the visiting defence as Gary
Harris rounded the keeper before side-footing home. Half Time: Huntly
1 Keith 7 As the teams were leaving for the break, Huntly's Paul Winton
launched a verbal attack at Referee Craig Veitch The midfielder was pulled back
and booked for his comments. Despite being booked, the player continued his the
abuse before he was escorted off the field by Coach Allan Mitchell. Huntly
were awarded a penalty in the 53rd minute. Napier turned away Munro's shot just
before Paul Neill brought down Harris inside the area. Stuart Allan made
no mistake from the spot with the keeper going the wrong way. Two minutes
later, Lee McGregor was pulled up for a foul on Paul McLean. This led to a confrontation
between the two side as Dale Munro got involved and was shown his second yellow
card of the game which resulted in an early shower for the defender. Robert
English was booked three minutes later for dissent to referee after conceding
a free kick. In the 61st minute, there were offside shouts against McKinstry
who was coming back from an offside position. Play would break out to Mcrea on
the right who cross in for Keith to bundle the ball over from close range. The
maroons completed the rout with 8 minutes remaining. Cammy Keith got by Wayne
