A fine day in Huntly today was a good start to the day for this 3rd round Scottish Cup tie. Huntly started the quicker of the two teams and were unlucky not to be up 1-0 after a Greg shot in 15minutes was saved well by the murieston keeper to keep the score level at 0-0. Huntly squandered numerous chances in the first half and failure to convert chances meant teams went in at half time even 0-0 even though Huntly had at least 70% possession in the first half. The second half was assured to to produce an entertaining game of football, and both teams played some good football. It was 15 minutes after the restart of the second half Murieston took the lead and the striker made it look an easy finish.1-0 murieston. Huntly pressed hard for an equaliser after that and bombed the Murieston goal but never managed to produce a goal in which we have been so good at doing all season. Final score Huntly 0 Murieston 1. After the game Murieston coaches gave us positives from today by giving us credit for 4 of our players who said they were outstanding and that we would give alot of teams down in West Lothain area a very good game which is really promising for us. Us coaches Chris,Mike and myself are happy with the performance from all players today apart from the scoreline but it was a really good advert for Youth Football in Scotland. First of all congratulations go to Murieston for todays victory and great game of football, and then to 2 of the teams that compete in our aberdeen and district juvenile football association Dyce for beating St Mirren 3-2 and Albion for beating Cumbernauld 1-0.good luck for the fourth round. Congratulations also for Huntly under 16s for progressing to the next round of the scottish cup from yesterday. Thanks to all parents and supporters for turning out today and supporting our lads as always it was very much appreciated by us coaches and after a tough game applauding the lads leaving the field, just goes to show that they are very proud of the effort the lads gave today, also thanks to J and I smith for the pies and sausage rolls,Huntly Social Football Club and staff for letting us hold the hospitality there, memebers of the H.F.C for attending the game and showing support to the youth teams, hope it continues throughout the season not only for the under 14s but all youth teams, and to the mums who helped with catering and cleaning up afterwards, much appreciated by all coaches. We wish Murieston all the best for next round, and for the coaches and players for making the journey up here and putting on an entertaining game of football. Well done to our lads and lets go into next weekends game at home to Albion BC and show the same attitude as we did today and we will not go wrong.
