Huntly Confirm Management Changes

Following the sacking of Boss John Teasdale on Tuesday a replacement has now been confirmed by Huntly.

After much speculation we can confirm that legendary Manager Steve Paterson is coming back to the club for a second spell.

Steve originally took the reigns in 1990 from the sacked Joe Harper who took him in as a coach following a spell with Elgin City.
Paterson who helped mould the black and gold’s into one of the most successful sides in Highland League history with an impressive trophy haul during the 1990s.
The man known as ‘Pele’ won nine trophies in his spell in charge from 1990-1995.
His Huntly Honours List with the club reads as follows:

  • 2 Highland League Championships (1993/93 and 1994/95)
  • 2 Qualifying Cups (1992/93 and 1994/95)
  • 2 Highland League Cups (1992/93 and 1993/94)
  • 3 Aberdeenshire Cups (1991/92, 1993/94 and 1994/95)

Steve will be meeting his new players tonight for the first time at training while his return to the Christie Park dugout will be this Saturday against his former side Forres Mechanics.
Steve Paterson is not the only man to return to the club, we can also confirm that former Chairman Forbes Shand is to make a return behind the scenes. Managing Director Andy Troup confirmed the news.

“I’m delighted to announce after a few weeks of discussions that Forbes Shand has agreed to return to the club working as a football consultant. One of his first tasks was helping us get a new Manager in following John Teasdale’s departure and Forbes will work closely with Steve as a link with the boardroom and the Management.”
