Friday 10 February Hibees To Head North
Hibernian
Football Club have accepted an invitation from Huntly's new Chief Executive Robin
Dunseath to play a game at Christie Park next season. In an
exclusive statement to Huntly FC Online Dunseath said: "We are going to celebrate
100 years of successful football by teams representing Huntly-Huntly United and
then Huntly FC and Hibs have agreed to provide us with our celebrity game. I
am in direct negotiation with Rod Petrie, their Chief Executive, and with Tony
Mowbray, and they have both agreed to this fixture. All that remains is to set
a date that is suitable to both parties and we are working on this at present.
This is one of a number of projects I intend to roll out over the next couple
of years." Christie Park has seen a number of top-level
Scottish Premier League sides make the trip north for friendlies in the past with
Walter Smith sending a full-strength Rangers side to mark the opening of the club
floodlights in late 1994 while just last year, the ground was packed to capacity
as Aberdeen provided the opposition for Martin Stewart's Testimonial game.
With the Edinburgh challenging for the SPL Title and through to the Quarter-Finals
of the Scottish Cup, Huntly supporters can be sure of another entertaining game
and the chance to see internationals such as Derek Riordan and Gary O'Connor go
head to head with their current favourites. |
