Nairn County ended their season on a high with back-to-back wins over Aberdeenshire sides.
Neil Murray came in at right back for Alan Redford as the home side made one change from their draw at Rothes. Nairn were without the suspended pair of Chris Finnigan and Darren Jarvie.

The visitors opened the scoring in the second minute when Gregg Main’s shot was parried by Stewart Gray and Shaun Kerr was on hand to squeeze the ball in at the keeper’s front post. In the 14th minute, the Huntly keeper did well to block a Kerr effort with his feet after he ran onto Graham pass.

Just after the quarter hour mark, Michael Morrison’s pass found Craig Dorrat and his first time ball to Gary McGowan was chipped over John Campbell but his shot landed on the roof of the net.
In the 27th minute, Lee McGregor was pulled up for a foul on Scott Graham. From the dead ball, Duncan Jones curled the ball up and over the wall to give Gray no chance at his near post to double his side’s advantage.

A good save at the other end on 35 minutes saw Campbell dive low to turn McGowan’s low drive round the post.

Half-Time: Huntly 0 Nairn County 2

The game was effectively killed off just four minutes after the break. Scott Graham turned Alan Redford on the edge of the area and fired in a shot but Stewart Gray let the ball slip through his hands which gave Shaun Kerr an opportunist’s chance to slot the ball into an empty net.

Russell Guild evaded a challenge from John Campbell on 66 minutes firing in a low shot which was cleared by Wayne Mackintosh. Four minutes later, Michael Morrison headed wide as the home side looked for a consolation.

Left back Hamish Munro went forward on a run on 74 minutes only to be taken down by Mackintosh 25 yards out. From the resultant free kick, McGowan drilled low and wide.

Huntly now finish the season in 7th position, 10 pts and two places worse off than last term but there is silverware in the trophy cabinet and the management team of Dave McGinlay and Jim Cheyne now look to start recruiting players to make a fresh challenge in 2008/09.
