Huntly’s under 17s came from behind to net twice inside the last six minutes to record a 2-1 home win over an Inverurie Loco Works side which lost their discipline with two sent off late on.

Locos threatened early on but Sandy Watt (left) did well to block a Fraser Bruce shot with his legs. Five minutes later, Watt turned a Conor Sibson shot over the bar with another impressive save.

Home Captain Keigan Mathers curled over the bar in the 38th minute and just two minutes later he played the ball back from the by-line and drilled low into the six yard box but there were no takers for the cross.

Sibson had the ball in the back of the Huntly net five minutes from the break but he was flagged offside.

Just on the stroke of half-time, Mika Askildsen got forward into the opposing box only to see his attempt roll by the post.

The deadlock was broken in the 62nd minute when Locos Captain Scott Coull ran in behind the home defence before firing low inside the post.

Quick passing play from substitute Ewan Skinner teed up Matthew Begg who forced Marc O’Donnell down to save.

In the 78th minute, Referee Owen Lawrence was about to caution Flynn Scott only for the Locos sub to swear at the referee and get a straight red for foul and abusive language instead.

Huntly got a lift with their extra man and took advantage. Harvey Taylor (left) had moved up into midfield and created an opening receiving a return ball from Huntly trialist before firing low into the far post to level.

Locos would be reduced to nine men two minutes from time when substitute Sean McKenzie was shown a straight red for violent conduct.  Huntly keeper Watt was subsequently cautioned for unsporting behaviour’

A minute into stoppage time, Keigan Mathers showed great determination to take the ball in from the left wing and crossed into the front post for Huntly’s Trialist to head home.
