Huntly have re-signed Michael Clark on a two year contract.

The eighteen year old centre half featured as a trialist in Wednesday night’s 6-2 defeat to Falkirk after the expiry of his Huntly contract.

Clark debuted for the club in July 2011 as a sixteen year old schoolboy and has gone on to make 65 squad appearances scoring once.

Now into his third season in the Highland League, Manager Dave McGinlay was pleased to get the Insch-based youngster, who is also the son of new Chairman George Clark signed up again.

“Michael is a young lad who has benefited coming back to the club during pre-season. Despite only being eighteen he’s had two seasons of first team football behind. He shone in his first season and didn’t have much luck with suspensions in the second term but he can learn from his mistakes and improve going forward.

I see the lad as someone who has the potential to be a very good Highland League player and he keeps up the level of commitment we look for and learns from the older players it’ll benefit him.

It now gives me four good centre halfs at the club. Michael Hart is full of experience while Craig Dorrat has impressed since moving back into that position while younger lads like Michael and Sam McKenzie have both had the experience over the last season and it will give us competition in the middle of defence.”
