Our trialist who impressed in the 2-1 defeat to Buckie Thistle has now signed with the club.

Full back Alexander Jack has today finalised a deal to join Huntly until the summer.

Jack has previously played in the Highland League for Rothes, Keith and Deveronvale and Manager Charlie Charlesworth is delighted his former Deveronvale player signed on.

“As we work with a tight squad, this has created an opportunity for me to strengthen an area I consider a little thread bare at the moment, and that is the full back positions, by that I mean, we have perfectly qualified individuals in Blair Johnston and David Donald, however, the depth to support these positions due to injury or suspension is evident. As it happens, with Blair suspended on Saturday and Cory injured for at least three weeks, I made the step to bring Zander to the club, a player who I have worked with in my Elgin and Deveronvale days. Zander, although not yet match fit, will be a seamless addition particularly for these areas.”

The 26 year has not played a Highland league match since February 2017 and despite the lack of game time, Charlesworth was pleased with the display from the full back.

“For someone who’s not played for almost a year I thought he was tremendous and the crowd warmed to him. He’s got a good engine for a full back and isn’t scared to tackle. He can give us cover in the full back and in midfield positions.”
