Scottish Cup 1st Round Draw: Reaction

This morning's Scottish Cup draw paired Huntly with junior side Girvan in the first round. Girvan retained their SFA membership when they went into the junior ranks and are automatically entered into the competition every year. Huntly ran out one-nil winners on that occasion and will be looking for the win again this time.

With no Manager at present to give their reaction to the draw, we spoke to midfielder Stuart Soane who scored the winner in the corresponding tie at Christie Park two years ago. ...more

Huntly suffered their fifth defeat of the season and not for the first time this season found themselves conceding three goals in one game as last season’s bottom side Strathspey Thistle ran out worthy 3-1 winners.

The Jags had midfielder Ross Mackenzie absent who was replaced by Jason Hill. Huntly had Captain David Angus, winger Franny More and Ross Campbell out injured. Michael Dunn returned to the starting eleven after missing last week through suspension while Jordan Timmons came on to the subs bench. There were no places in the squad for Myles Brownhill, John Murray, Ross McKenzie and the transfer-listed Don Horsburgh. ...more
